Starting a New Project
Once you open GNS3 the first screen you will see is the new project window as shown in the image.
1.Enter a Project File name in the space provided.
2.Click the checkmark Save nvrams and other disk files.
(This is because the configurations of the routers you work on will be saved on the nvram).

Before Opening Router Configuration part 1
1.Check to make sure the router's IOS is uploaded.
2.Go under edit > IOS images and hypervisors.
3.Make sure the image is uploaded and is made default for that router as shown in the image below.
Before Opening Router Configuration part 2
1.Go under Edit > Preferences
2.In preferences go under Dynamips and make sure the path points to the dynamips.bin file that is downloaded and installed under the GNS 3 > src folder.
3.Click the Test button and make sure it runs.
