Over the course of this project, the team has encountered an assortment of issues that have hindered the projects success.
Issue 1: Unix Systems
- The team was unfamiliar with the UNIX system and how to navigate it.
- The team was unfamiliar with the process of setting up a VPN server on a UNIX system.
Resolution: Unix Systems
- The team migrated to a Windows Server 2003 environment and used the Routing and Remote Access utilities.
Issue 2: VPN Connectivity
- Connectivity was successfully achieved to the temporary server, but when moved to the AT&T Labs, connectivity was no longer possible.
- The team went through all firewall settings and made sure there was nothing on the server blocking connections.
- Connectivity was still not achievable.
Resolution: VPN Connectivity
- The team decided to try using the L2TP protocol for connecting. This generated an error stating "The port is set for routing only."
- The team discovered that all VPN ports were set for routing only. The ports were changed to Remote Access and connectivity was now possible.
