The University of Houston AT&T Lab, in collaboration with the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers Communications Society (IEEE ComSoc), will be offering the IEEE ComSoc Wireless Communication Engineering Technologies (WCET) Certification exam preparation course in the Spring (March 29 -31) and Fall of 2010. This event is co-sponsored by the UH AT&T Lab and the Center for Technology Literacy under its Economic Development Administration Program (http://tech.uh.edu/ctl).
A non-profit organization, IEEE is the world's leading professional association for the advancement of technology grouping more than 375,000 members and 80,000 students worldwide. Among its 38 technical societies, ComSoc groups industry professionals with a common interest in communication technologies.
The material covered in the WCET examination is divided into seven areas of expertise: rf engineering, wireless access technologies, network and service architeture, network management and security, facilities infrastructure, agreements, standards, policies and regulations, and fundamental knowledge.
To be elegible to sit in the WCET examination, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Candidates must have a degree from an accredited college or university and at least three years of graduate-level or professional wireless communication experience.
- OR Candidates must be IEEE members with three years of graduate-level or professional wireless communication experience.
