To install X-Lite, the team had to download the software from http://www.counterpath.com/x-lite.html&active=4. There are two versions the team downloaded, Windows and the Linux version. The Linux version of X-Lite will be installed on the two desktop computers in room 129, while the Windows version will be installed in the AT&T classroom in room 110H.The team would like to give credit for helping our team install and configure the X-Lite softphone in room 110H is our lab instructor’s student assistant, Philip

When the team downloaded the X-Lite softphone version for Linux, the file is zipped in a .tar.gz file. The team unzipped this folder by double clicking on this file to check the contents of the zipped folder. Locate the “Extract” icon and click on this icon to extract the folder onto the desktop. To run X-Lite the following commands will have to be executed in the terminal
window:
• cd Desktop
• cd xten-xlite
• ./xtensoftphone

The Windows version is much simpler to install than the Linux version of X-Lite since the Windows installation process has an installation wizard to guide the user.
