Before installing Ubuntu on the two desktop computers in room 129, the team members researched the system requirements to run this operating system. This information is available at this website https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/SystemRequirements.
The team obtained Ubuntu operating system by downloading the CD image, and burning the image onto a CD. Following this link will direct you to the downloading cite http://releases.ubuntu.com/9.04/. The team downloaded the ubuntu-9.04-desktop-i386.iso file, since the two lab computers’ architecture is is 32 bit. After downloading the image file, the team downloaded Infra Recorder, a free and open source image burning program to burn the disc image onto a CD. The link that is provided will explain in further detail on how to burn Ubuntu disc image, https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BurningIsoHowto.
After burning the image disc, the disc was inserted into the CD disc tray of the lab computer and rebooted. Next, the team followed the following steps to set up Ubuntu that was provided in this very helpful link, https://help.ubuntu.com/community/GraphicalInstall.
The team members had to record the username and password on each of the computers in order to use later on when remotely accessing the computers using TightVNC.
